1. Two Mats Are Better Than One.roof-clean_gal1

Placing mat at every door on both the inside and the outside. The amount of dirt that these mats will both collect is proof enough that they are needed.

2. When leaving a room, always take something with you

A fairly easy way to maintain an area is to leave it better than how you found it. Before leaving a room, take something with you that doesn’t belong (like glasses from the coffee table to the kitchen, mail on the kitchen counter to the mail processing station). These small steps can go a very long way to helping you keep things looking and feeling the way you want them to.

3. Keep The Dining Room Table Set.

In a lot of families, the dining room table is treated as an dumping ground. Things like mail, keys, schoolbags, clothes, etc will pile up in no time. A nicely set table acts as a good defense as most people aren’t going to mess up a nicely set table just to unload their stuff.

4. Stop Dust Bunnies At Their Source

If you have a dog who sheds, you’ll know how difficult it can be from the hair collecting under furniture and on the carpet. Make it a habit to comb the dog every other day before a walk and brush the pet outside. This will make a world of difference when trying to keep the dust bunnies under control.

5. Keep A Mini-Vac On Hand

Often dirt accumulates because dragging a large vacuum out for the closet can seem like so much work. Some people have found that buying a compact stick vacuum that fits right behind a the living room makes vacuuming for a few minutes daily much simpler.

6. Don’t let the laundry pile up

I do laundry one load at a time, rather than letting it all pile up until “laundry day”. Laundry, in and of itself, is an easy job but it becomes a problem when the pile turns in to a mountain. Then the task becomes overwhelming and the chances are much higher that the clean clothes will never be folded and put away properly.

7. Disinfect the disposal.

To get rid of odors, drop in a cut-up lemon, some salt, and a few ice cubes. The lemon deodorizes and the ice & salt clean away residue. Disposer Care works well too and is made for exactly this.

8. Block Scum From Building Up On Your Shower Doors

Rain-X Glass Treatment works just as well on your shower door as it does on your car’s windshield. Use it twice a year and the water will bead up and roll right off!

9. Cleaner Liner

It’s not tough for a lot of mold and milder to collect on your shower liner and if you’ve ever tried to clean it by hand, you’ll know it’s no easy task. Don’t wait until you can’t stand it anymore and replace it but machine wash it instead. Throw it in with a few towels to help scrub it clean and then hang it back up to let it dry.
